Healthy Home Consultation

Curious about how healthy your home really is?

Your home affects the people who live in it every day—from the materials and finishes you live around to the air you breathe, the moisture you manage, and the way your home responds to its climate.

Our Healthy Home Consultation is a paid, in-home assessment designed to help you understand where your home has the greatest opportunities for improvement. We look at your home as a whole, while paying particular attention to the concerns, priorities, and goals that matter most to you.

You don't need to know what to ask. That's where we start.

What We Look At

Every home—and every homeowner—is different. Your consultation is tailored to the existing conditions of your home and the priorities you bring to the conversation.

Depending on your home and goals, we may evaluate:

The goal isn't to overwhelm you with problems or recommend that everything be replaced. It's to understand what matters most, what is worth addressing, and what can wait.

How The Consultation Works

Before we walk through the home, we'll talk about what brought you in and what you're hoping to accomplish.

Maybe you're planning a remodel. Maybe you're concerned about indoor air quality, moisture, materials, or your child's sleeping environment. Or maybe you simply want to understand whether there are meaningful ways to make your home healthier over time.

We'll use those priorities to guide the assessment.

Start with your goals

We'll walk through the areas of your home that are most relevant to your goals, looking at materials, products, building conditions, ventilation, moisture, and other potential sources of concern.

Where appropriate, we may use basic measurement tools to help identify conditions or sources that aren't immediately visible.

The emphasis is on understanding the home in context, rather than testing for the sake of testing.

Walk through the home

We'll identify the areas where changes could have the greatest potential benefit, considering both the condition of the home and your priorities.

Some opportunities may involve construction or renovation. Others may be simple changes you can make yourself. And in some cases, the best recommendation may be to leave something alone rather than replace it unnecessarily.

Identify opportunities

Prioritize the path forward

After the in-home consultation, we'll organize our recommendations into a clear, prioritized plan.

You'll receive two paths forward:

A — Contractor-Performed Improvements
A prioritized list of improvements that Rooted Home Collective can help coordinate and build with qualified trade partners. These may include renovations, material replacements, ventilation improvements, moisture management, insulation and air sealing, healthier finishes, and other construction-related improvements.

B — Homeowner Improvements
A separate list of simpler or lower-cost actions you can take on your own. Depending on your home and priorities, these may include changes to furnishings, household products, materials, or other everyday sources of exposure.

The goal is to help you distinguish between what deserves a construction project, what you can tackle yourself, and what doesn't need to be addressed right now.

A Plan That Fits Your Home

There isn't a single definition of a healthy home, and there isn't a single path to getting there.

Recommendations are prioritized around your goals, budget, the existing conditions of your home, and the opportunities available during future renovations or improvements.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of where your home has the greatest opportunities for improvement and a prioritized path forward based on your goals, budget, and project.

Whether you want to make a few targeted improvements or gradually transform your home over time, the consultation gives you a place to start.
